Train to Teach Yoga Tune Up®
- Yoga Tune Up®, developed and created by internationally renowned Yoga instructor, Jill Miller, is a 'whole body' regenerative fitness system integrating elements of Yoga, calisthenics and body therapy. The poses, routines and structure of this format are deeply rooted in discovering the biomechanics and physiology of each individual, as an individual, helping to create lasting structural change. Yoga Tune Up® approaches the body as a living archaeological dig, probing layers of muscle, tendons, connective tissues and joints, and excavating unhealthy tension patterns until your students are moved back into complete physiological balance.
- The accessible nature and style of Yoga Tune Up® fills classes and workshops with a broad spectrum of both men and women ranging from athletes, professionals, yogis, and doctors, to boomers becoming active for the first time.
- Yoga instructors seeking continuing education.
- Yoga instructors seeking proven formats to expand their teaching repertoire.
- Yoga instructors seeking to grow their class attendance and/or private practice.
- Pilates instructors looking to cross over to teaching Yoga.
- Fitness instructors/professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of and further integrate anatomy and physiology into their teaching format.
- Fitness instructors/professionals looking to increase their creative teaching ability while simultaneously delivering advanced biomechanical instruction.
- Advanced Yoga practitioners interested in stepping into the role of instructor.
The Yoga Tune Up® Level 1 40 hour Certification Program strikes a balance between the worlds of Yoga and fitness, attracting trainees of all ages and body types. It breaks down the nuts and bolts of human movement by using a yogic lens of awareness, conscious relaxation, and proper breathing techniques. The Level 1 environment fosters trainees into a newly intimate understanding of their own architecture. Yoga Tune Up® trainees dive deeply into integrated anatomy and body mechanics while discovering a fresh approach to Asana. You will go beyond formulaic instruction and truly learn how to think and teach creatively within your classroom. Trainees are presented with "template" Yoga Tune Up® classes to help jumpstart their teaching. Successful completion and certification of the Level 1 training is mandatory prior to teaching any Yoga Tune Up® classes. Level 1 is required for YTU Integrated Certificate and for Yoga Tune Up® Therapist consideration.
This 40 hour training:
- Prepares you to teach your own Yoga Tune Up® classes and includes class templates to jump-start your own Yoga Tune Up® classes
- Become proficient and comfortable with fundamentals of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics
- Learn a step-by-step guide to creating memorable, accessible, and effective Yoga Tune Up® classes and “Think out of the Boxana”
- Refresh your love of teaching and learn new classroom leadership skills
This 20 hour training is open to students and teachers who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Yoga Tune Up® processes and fitness therapy practices. The specific anatomy of the hips, legs, knees ankles and feet are explored in depth. Trainees are guided through a variety of hands-on adjustments, new assessment strategies, injury scenarios, deeper meditation instruction, and improving their teaching performance of these specific body regions. The Trainees are presented with "template" workshops aimed to inspire their own creative workshops and classes. No prior experience with Yoga Tune Up® is required, although it is helpful. The Immersion can be taken at any point in a teachers journey towards certification. Required for YTU Integrated Certificate and for Yoga Tune Up® Therapist consideration.
This 20 hour training focuses specifically on the intricate anatomy and physiology of the Shoulders and Core, and breaks down these areas in fine detail. Trainees are guided through a variety of hands-on adjustments, injury scenarios, pranayama (breath-based exercises) and improving their teaching performance of these specific body regions. The Trainees are presented with "template" workshops aimed to inspire their own creative workshops and classes. Completion of the Shoulders Immersion requires an additional 20 hours of classroom attendance at Yoga Tune Up® classes, workshops, or retreats.
For yoga teachers, advanced yoga practitioners, Pilates and fitness teachers, massage therapists, dancers, and martial artists. This 20 hour immersion is designed to enhance your connection to the abdominal core and is filled with practical tools for effectively integrating core work into your practice and teaching. Through embodied anatomy exercises, you will systematically travel within your core to explore the key structures that mobilize and stabilize the spine. Using Jill's original Yoga Tune Up® techniques, you will strengthen and stretch every last muscle fiber. You will be introduced to several core-related pranayama techniques to directly experience your diaphragm and experience daily self-massage with Yoga Tune Up® therapy balls. Learn how to apply core work to your daily yoga practice, as well as ways of integrating and sequencing the exercises in a class setting. Unique empowerment exercises will address the emotional blocks that often obscure core work, so that you may uncover and resolve your third chakra issues, and ultimately inspire others.
Upon completion of 100 hours of combined Level 1 and Immersion trainings (all 3 listed above) certified YTU teachers in good-standing may submit a 40 hour research project that includes a proven Yoga Tune Up® Therapy sequence for either an individual or a control group with specific conditions directed towards improving quality of life. Please contact us for more details.
This 16-30 hour training offers students an embodied integrated approach to the human body. Instead of simply memorizing basic muscle function and 2 dimensional maps of the body, trainees learn how to move their mind deeply within the multiple layers of the body’'s tissues, so that they can usher their future students more deeply into the direct experience in their own bodies.
